ROC – Renewex – Microdermabrasion Expert Kit

Many people have been asking about this home system developed by ROC (Paris, France).

The system comes with a micro-crystal cream, a foam applicator handle and two replacement sponges.

The methods of usage cannot be easier. Just apply the cream and using the foam applicator ( battery powered). Gently apply the cream spreading it evenly over the face for about 1-2 minutes ( it is good to massage the fac in circular movements when applying the micro-crystal cream).  Wash face with luke warm water and pat dry with a soft towel.

It is a good idea to use some toner to close the pores and then apply some aqueous based moisturiser cream to keep the new revealed layer of skin fresh and hydrated. This system can be used 3-4 times a week (maybe once or twice for those people with sensitive skin).

Good results, are seen after 2 weeks. It’s handy, portable and the creams and sponges are not expensive to buy.

Downside, micro-crystals may be a bit too sensitive for people with reactive skin but otherwise a very good system.

Hope that helps.

Sun damaged skin & microdermabrasion – Does it really help?

Posted March 8, 2007 by microdermabrasion

Many studies have shown that microdermabrasion procedures are able to reduce the visual appearance of sun damaged skin to a significant extent but not completely ( depending on the degree of damage). We have come across people who after 1-2 months treatment with microdermabrasion, have less apparent sun damaged areas of skin. But on the other hand, there are people who do no improve greatly – this can be due to the fact that these people have sought treatment at a stage where the damage has penetrated far down to the deep layers of the skin.

In summary, if you notice that your skin is getting affected by the harmful rays of the sun, don’t wait. See your local dermatologist/ beautician and ask for advice with regard to microdermabrasion treatment!

Does Vilantae have any side effects?

Vilantae, is well known for its minimal side effects.

The most reported, yet rare,  side effects people experience are:

1. Loose stool for the first 1-2 weeks of treatment – this clears up once the body is used to Vilantae.

2. Increased appetite (rare)

3. Stomach cramps (rare)

This is the beauty of Vilantae. The drug or should I say Vitamin B5 is very safe to take and the results are outstanding. Severe side effects have not been reported with this product, BUT if you do experience any other side effects which make you worry, please stop taking Vilantae and contact you local physician/dermatologist ASAP.

Thanks!

Can I take Roaccutane and Vilantae at once?

Yes you can!

The fact that VILANTAE is water soluble Vitamin B5 , it does not react with Roaccutane. But , to be honest, there is no need in taking both products together. This may cause sever drying of the skin but other than that, there are no effects. And you cannot overdose on a water soluble vitamin as the body will excrete the excess through the urine!

If your acne is mild to moderate, then Vilantae may be enough. But, if your acne is severe, then may be using Roaccutane will be the product of choice.

Can I apply sunblock after microdermabrasion?

This is very important!

Skin ageing and damage caused by the sun is a very important issue. Too much sunlight can even lead to skin cancer and if you live in a sunny area, then applying sunblock (SPf 15 and above depending on how sunny the place you are in) is a must.

After microdermabrasion, applying sunblock is a good idea. this will help in protecting the new revealed surface of fresh looking skin from the harmful rays of the sun! Just please make sure that the sunblock is hypoallergenic.

So , yes! Sunblock is a must in very sunny areas whatever the circumstance!

What type of moisturiser can I use?

Many people have asked us whether they can use a standard moisturiser after having microdermabrasion performed.

Although this is possible, it is always good to purchase the moisturising cream that comes with the microdermabrasion pack. These creams usually contain various antioxidants and vitamins (such as B5) which, not only helps to soften and hydrate the skin, but to provide nutrients. Nourishing the skin with these sort of vitamins and antioxidants maintains vitality and freshness!

The microdermabrasion suppliers will usually let you know where and how you can order more of the crystal creams as well as the moisturisers.

I am 16 years old. Can I have microdermabrasion?

Yes!

Microdermabrasion can be performed theoretically from the age of 15 upwards! It is always good to have your skin assessed by a professional before having this kind of procedure. Dermatologists and beauticians will be able to give concrete advice on how you should maiantain your skin and whether microdermabrasion will help you.

So, if you are 15 years old or above, you can have microdermabrasion but just get that checked out with a professional before you do.

The length of treatment of acne antibiotic therapy

Posted January 21, 2007 by microdermabrasion
Categories: microdermabrasion

This ranges from 6 months to even up to 2 years depending on how well you respond to the treatment. There are some patients who are completely acne free by 6 months and there are those who need to prolong treatment due to the fact that they have more severe forms or that the bacteria is resistant to the antibiotic.

Antibiotic treatment is quite lenghthy and results are ot seen until the 4-5th month of treatment. This is beacuse, is takes time for the appropriate levels of the antibiotic to accumulate within the acne infested areas.

So , for those taking oral antibiotics, be patient and why not try microdermabrasion at the same time. One session a week could help speed the process up! You never know…

I am 35 year old woman and I still have spots. Help!

This usually happens in women after the age of 25. This form of acne is quite common in the 30-40 age group and the reasons for why it occurs are still not fully understood.

But there is hope! Studies have shown that a treatment regime with Roaccutane is able to clear this type of acne in less than a year with a recurrence rate of 10-20%. So the chances of achieving a pimple ( spot)-free face are still realistic.

Ask your consultant dermatologist for more advice! But I am sure it is a step in the correct direction.

How many sessions of microdermabrasion can I have ?

I tried to answer this question in a post below ( “How long do the results last for?”); I will try to elaborate more here.

In theory, you can have up 8 sessions per month; that’s 2 sessions per week. Now, before you decide that you will be having 2 sessions a week, you must see what effects you get in the first two weeks of treatment (depending on your SKIN TYPE).

Many people with normo-sensitive skin deal very well with having 2 sessions per week. On the other hand, people with increased skin sensitivity are advised to have only 1 session for the first 2-3 months. The exfoliating crystals can sometimes be harsh on the skin and create nasty unwanted rashes and skin irritation.

So my advise is , see how you get on for the first two weeks with 2 ( if you dont have sensitive skin) or 1 ( if you do have sensitive skin) sessions per week!
